Hilbre is a distinctive, off-grid place where ideas can slow down, deepen, and connect with the living systems and layered histories of a small island landscape.

Set on Hilbre Island, the site offers studios, workshops, and meeting rooms for hire, supporting projects that value close attention, interdisciplinary exchange, and meaningful engagement with place.

We particular welcome proposals shaped around ecosystems/ecologies, cultural history, and the meeting points between art, science, education, heritage, community research, and speculative practice.

A site for close attention​

Hilbre is not a neutral venue. It is a place that asks you to notice:

The Tide line, the wind shift, the calls overhead, the traces of human activity embedded in the island's fabric. The space suits projects that want to work with the island rather than simply on it - whether you're mapping, ;listening, sampling, drawing, observing, recording, writing, building, or thinking collectively. 

Interdisciplinary events are warmly welcomed, especially those that bring together different methods and vocabularies to ask better questions.
