Bouymaster's House

  • Small-group - 40 max

  • learning base, study space, seminars, reflection, documentation.

  • Workshop: making, repair, prototyping, material tests, and equipment preparation (education-led use).

What we provide

  • Space & Environment

  • Electricity on Hilbre is currently limited, so workshops work best when planned with minimal reliance on powered equipment.

  • Basic refreshments may be available, but we suggest visiting groups plan to be self-sufficient where possible

  • Toilet facilities are currently composting toilets, which are well maintained and in keeping with the island's off-grid setting

  • Exclusive use of designated working spaces on Hilbre Island

  • Access to indoor areas suitable for group work, quiet making and meetings

Induction & Support

  • Induction session covering:

  • Safety, tides and access routes

  • Code of care for the island as a nature reserve

  • Practical use of spaces and facilities

  • On-call contact during the residency for any urgent practical issues. Information Pack pre arrival. Outline of emergency procedures and contact details

  • Map & photos of the working spaces

  • Guidance on walking routes and access

  • What to bring (clothing, equipment, water, food etc)
